How to keep up good posture while working from home
Like many of us, our working situation has hugely changed over the last couple of weeks. Many of us are now working from home, and potentially sitting more than usual and doing more desk work. In this email you’ll find some useful techniques and advice to help break up your day, as well as maintaining good posture.
1. Brueggers Technique
This technique is really useful to essentially ‘reset your spine’ and we really recommend doing this every hour that you are sitting and working. This technique helps to open your ribcage, activate your diaphragm, and bring your head and shoulders back.
I could try and describe how to do it, however this video shows how to do it perfectly!

2. Drink lots of water
Drinking lots of water helps to regulate your digestive system, increase oxygen flow around the body, maintain blood pressure, and flush waste. Drinking more water also means you’ll need to get up to use the loo, which means more breaks from your desk!
3. Practise stretches and yoga regularly
You should have some at home exercises that we have sent you, please practise these at home and throughout the day.
Yoga routines can easily be found on YouTube, this is one we like:

4. Check your work station
We are used to going into an office space where we work with a desktop and an office chair, and are now at home with a laptop on the dinner table. To keep your posture as good as possible we recommend the following:
use books to prop up your laptop - the middle part of the screen should meet your eye line
use a gym ball instead of a chair for some time during the day, this will help to activate your core (we like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mode33-Exercise-Ball-Anti-Burst-Pregnancy/dp/B07ZWDF79V/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=gym+ball&qid=1585561102&sr=8-7)
buy either a lumbar support for your chair, or the very least, use a rolled up towel to support the curve in your lower back
5. Take regular breaks
Take a break from your desk every hour, this will both work as a break for your body and your brain!
Pain and discomfort can creep up and affect your work during this, so putting some time aside for you is absolutely vital! Let us know how you get on! :)
