One super useful technique to help your posture at the desk!

It’s Monday, you’re at work or working from home, reading this either on your smartphone or computer, and you can feel your head creeping forward and shoulders feeling tense. Other than doing a few shoulder rolls, what can you do to help your posture?

There is an amazing technique called The Bruegger’s Technique, developed to help patients manage their own posture while working. It’s a good reminder in itself to have a little ‘posture reset’ but also strengthen up those helpful postural muscles.

Here is how to do it!

  1. Keep your feet flat on the floor and scoot your bum to the back of the seat

  2. Lightly tilt your pelvis forward to create a small curve in your lower back

  3. Bring your shoulders back and down and squeeze in your middle back

  4. Rotate your hands so your palms face forward

  5. Keep your shoulders relaxed and breathe into your stomach (imagine you’ve got a balloon in your stomach and you’re filling it with air)

Hold for 20 seconds and do every hour - set reminders on your phone and allow yourself this little break to help with your posture!
