Yoga! What are the benefits?

As some of you may know, we are bringing yoga to Wimborne Wellness Centre! It is something we have always encouraged our patients to do, and we are so pleased to be able to offer it in our centre with our mission to be able to empower our patients to be proactive in their own wellbeing.

what are the benefits of yoga?

1.     Increased balance, strength, and flexibility: okay, this is an obvious one! But yoga has been long known to be able to help with overall balance and stability – this helps to prevent falls and increase overall control. Core strength is vital in everything we do, and plays a part in helping to prevent lower back pain and overall injury. Flexbility helps us to be able to move freely without restriction and stops pressure loading in the lower back and the shoulders.

2.     Back pain relief: a lot of our patients see us for their lower back pain and wonder what they can do to help relieve the pain themselves. Yoga is very helpful in releasing off tension in the lower back and enabling you to be able to stretch safely.

3.     Helping arthritis symptoms: research has proven that yoga can help to ease the symptoms of arthritis but getting movement through the joints of the body.

4.     Benefitting heart health: it’s proven that doing yoga can lower overall stress and help you feel calm, this helps to reduce your heart rate and increase your cardiovascular health.

5.     Helps you sleep: with yoga having such a calming effect on your body, it can also really help you sleep!

6.     Yoga can help you manage stress: yoga has been proven to help you manage stress levels better which all comes into play with your sleep quality and heart health!

7.     Yoga connects you to a like-minded community: you’ll be around people who share similar interests to you, and will connect you to a community!
