How can chiropractic care help with wear and tear?
Most of us have heard those dreaded words ‘wear and tear’, but what does it actually mean, and how can it be helped?
Wear and tear, or more specifically osteoarthritis, is where the body responds to increase pressure over a joint over time, by laying down excess bone in order to protect a joint. This extra bone typically makes it harder for the joints to move, which means they typically feel more stiff, this is due to the fact that synovial fluid doesn’t move around the joint as much due to the lack of movement.
This is often why the symptoms of wear and tear are aching, sensitivity to cold and damp, and general stiffness or immobility.
But how can it be helped?
Chiropractic adjustments and mobilisations helped move stiff joints, mobilise and increase the movement of synovial fluid within the joints themselves. This helps the joint feel freer and less stiff, helps to reduce pain and muscle tension, but also helps to prevent further wear and tear.
