Prevention is better than a cure

It is our belief at Wimborne Wellness Centre that trying to prevent a problem before it becomes real pain in the bum (sometimes literally!) is the best way to go for many of us.

For starters, if you are an avid gym goer or play any sports on a regular basis, injuries can seriously hamper your progression and enjoyment in the given exercise. Even at work, a sore neck or chronic low back pain can seriously interfere with your productivity, performance and mood in the workplace.

So why do you get injuries and aches and pains in the first place?

Over time over our joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons can become tighter and tighter due to overuse and chronic strain. Some of the main culprits of this include; poor posture at our desk, overtraining (this includes weekend warriors too!) or too little or too much stretching. Often these changes can occur without us noticing, until we get pain.

So how do you combat it?

Many of our patients take part in what we call wellbeing care. The frequency of which can range from fortnightly to monthly treatments, depending on your needs. It usually consists of a chiropractic adjustment and a 30, 45 or 60 minute sports massage. Our therapists will also advise you on home care strengthening and stretching exercises that relate to your specific needs, to make sure you stay as healthy as possible between your treatments with us. We cannot stress enough how important the home exercises are in helping to correct your aches and prevent them from returning. Our patients also benefit from having the treatments ‘under one roof’ as all the team here communicate to make sure we all understand your body and its needs.

So please remember, prevention is better (and easier) than cure!
